With an industry trade show and partner testing imminent, nofio challenged Monochrome to package early R&D hardware and PCBs into a device suitable for public and stakeholder exposure and aggressive user testing. The brief was to accurately interface components, to balance cooling and signal requirements, and to create a durable and comfortable face-fit to the Index headset.

Monochrome delivered a clean, simple enclosure design packaging the technology via 3-D printable, modular construction consisting of two adjustable antenna arms and a two-part primary enclosure. The modular approach enabled rapid exploration of placement, spatial relationships and antenna adjustment without having to prototype the entire enclosure at each progressive step. As a result, the project was completed well ahead of a seemingly impossible schedule.

The ergonomics and robustness of the build made it perfect for purpose, whether on display at trade shows or being thrown against walls during user testing sessions.
